We invite each and every one of you to become a "Friend of Camp Cocker" by pledging a monthly donation so that we can save our struggling rescue group. Sadly, the economy has created a situation where adoptions are down, donations are down and yet the shelters are more packed than ever with animals in need. Please help to spread the woof for us!

Camp Cocker has just taken in seven cockers from the hoarding situation . . . please help spread the word that we are in dire need of medical sponsorship and or donations (no amount is too small). Once you see the happy and relieved faces of these dogs, you will know why we do what we do. Thank you for supporting animal rescue!

Camp Cocker is looking for donors who can pledge a monthly donation to help with the boarding expenses (this week's bill is $1230). Check out the changes going on at the boarding facility we use!

Upcoming medical bills (provided no more emergencies arise): Jerry & Dean neuter, Stella spay & cherry eye surgery, and we are now trying to pay off the vet bill from neutering and fixing the cherry eyes on the cockers from the hoarding situation. We also need to raise funds for Minnie's cataract surgery as well as pay off Bailee's old eye surgery debt of $1200. Please help us to spread the word - no donation amount is too small. Check out the video below to see a typical vet visit and where your money is being spent. Thank you SO much for supporting our little rescue group! We woof every single one of you!

Maddy is available for adoption now, we would like to find someone who can continue on with her swim therapy. For those of you following Maddy's story, the link to her story from the very beginning is here.

If you are interested in meeting or possibly adopting any of our Cocker Spaniels, please read about our ADOPTION PROCESS first and then fill out the online Adoption Application. Thank you for supporting animal rescue! We WOOF you!

In Celebration of our donors! We appreciate each and every one of you, this is for you. Campcocker

Introducing JOSH - the three to five year old Cocker boy who is a bit shy at first with strangers and new situations. Once he gets to know you he is actually one of the most affectionate dogs we have ever met. It is worth earning his trust because he bonds quickly to a kind person who is gentle and loving towards him. He is fearful of strangers, especially if he is in a trapped situation (like a dog kennel). This little dog is such a lap dog that he is going to bring a lot of love into the life of a dog savvy doggie guardian. He looks a bit sad to us and we wonder how many times he has changed hands and how many people have disregarded him or rejected him? He is currently staying in the boarding facility and is so quiet in his kennel and so good, that it is like he just doesn't want to be a bother to anyone. We want to find Josh his forever home, the last home he will ever have to go to, with someone whom will take him under their wing and really nurture him and help him to feel like he is worthy of love. We discovered that Josh is quite dog friendly and he has been going in the doggie daycare room at the boarding facility and he does great! Adoption donation $325

Introducing FISHER - the young cocker puppy who is just around a year old (or perhaps slightly younger?). He had double cherry eye surgery that seemed to heal nicely but he is so active and high energy that the cherry eye in his right eye has just started to peek out again. If we get his surgery done again, he is going to need to have cage rest and no activity and this is a dilemma as he is just a puppy who wants to run around a play. He is a really good-natured puppy who loves to play with the other dogs. He will chase the tennis ball but then tease you and not bring it back to you. We think he has a comical side that just makes us laugh. He may still grow a bit more - he could be as young as ten or eleven months of age or as old as a year. This boy needs an active home with someone who can keep him stimulated and exercised daily (but not immediately following his cherry eye surgery). Adoption donation $425

Introducing the little dandy man ANDY - the good natured and affectionate six year old cocker boy who is just a gem of a dog. He might be part English Cocker as he has the longer nose, the longer ears and he is about two to three inches taller than the average American Cocker might be. He enjoys other dogs but does not like hyper dogs who jump on his back or jump at his face, he also doesn't like it when other dogs take his toys. He is a mellow calm boy and just lives for a kind word from him human and a little snuggle time on the couch with you. Would you like to bring home a nice boy like Andy? He would make a great companion for just about anyone who appreciates a nice good-natured doggie like this. Check out Andy's short VIDEO from the day we got him out of the shelter. You will see why we've all gotten a great big crush on this boy! Adoption donation $275

Introducing DEAN & JERRY, approximately three to four years old - when we first rescued these two, we thought they were so bonded that they could not be split up. But it turns out that Dean is a dominant male and Jerry is a docile male and we found it easier on Jerry if they were split up. We wonder if they might be related? The mystery is why does Dean have a docked tail and why does Jerry have his full natural tail? They came into the shelter as a pair and it is clear that they have been together for their whole lives. They are very sweet and affectionate - but when you are petting them both, Dean tries to take all of the focus off of more passive Jerry. Jerry will need to have some one on one special time with whomever adopts him. Adoption donation $325 each as we do not wish to adopt them out as a pair (for Jerry's sake).

Introducing sweet faced COSMO - the three to four year old boy with the vulnerable vibe about him that makes you just want to pick him up and hold him on your lap and kiss him on the top of his furry face. Cosmo is dog friendly but we wonder if he might do best in a home with no other dogs as in his foster home, he has taken to "marking" the house. We think this is in part due to his sensitive nature and he needs some more confidence building so that he won't feel he needs to mark for everyone else to know he is there. Cosmo would enjoy a home with someone who is affectionate and will give him a lot of positive affirmation. He is coming out of his shell now and seems happy and wags his tail - he loves to be held in your arms like a baby. Now we just need to find him a home that is deserving of Cosmo's sweet nature! Adoption donation $325

Introducing DUNCAN - the six year old buff cocker boy that just experienced an extreme doggie makeover here at Camp Cocker! When we met him, he was so severely matted that we had to shave him down completely. We had mp idea the cute skinny dog that was under all that hair and wait until his fur grows in one day and someone keeps him brushed and groomed, he is going to be a looker! Duncan is a happy boy, and seems so grateful to be pet and touched that we imagine he has been missing out on the luxuries of being a much loved pet. He has a lot of energy still and gets really excited to go for walks and get out and see the world. This boy needs the best of care and a lot of love the next time around. Let's find him someone who will fall head over heels in love with him, he deserves to feel like he has value. Duncan LOVES his tennis balls and will play fetch for you as long as you can keep up, get your pitching arm ready! Adoption donation $275

Introducing ANNABELLE - this seven to nine year old cutie pie black & tan girl. She just had cataract surgery on her right eye and her left glaucoma eye was removed and replaced with a prosthetic. She really responds to voices that she knows, she perks right up and her little head tilts. She is a pint sized cocker, so adorable (slightly chubby, but that is okay, a little walking and high quality food will fix that). She gets along well with other dogs who don't get in her face - but she gets nervous around dogs who get in her personal space and are hyper. We wonder how much of this is that right now she feels hindered by having lost most of her vision? She would be a great companion for someone wanting a snuggly lap dog. We are hoping to find a foster home with a nurturing person who is home all day and can give her the eye drops she will need post-op. This is one cutie pie girl that is going to make someone very happy! Adoption donation $275

Introducing FLASH - the small Black & Tan Cocker boy who was sitting in a shelter with a broken leg. His owners left him there and he was wondering what he ever did to end up homeless - so of course we had to save him. He is way too good of a dog and deserves someone better. Flash had orthopedic surgery and is jumping and running around, just amazing to see how quickly dogs can recover (he has the will and the spirit to enjoy life). Flash's foster mommy not only sponsored his obedience training, she did the hard work to take him there and do daily training exercises with him (now this is what we call a committed foster home!) Flash is a sweet boy and will lick your face with appreciation for any kindness you can extend to him. We think Flash might be around two years old? He is a very high energy pup and definitely needs an active owner who can keep up with a daily exercise routine. Is there someone out there willing to give this good boy a second chance? Check out Flash's VIDEO to see his new bionic leg! He is so active and stronger than ever. Adoption donation $325

Introducing RAVEN - the three and a half year old silky black cocker girl. Raven is a bit shy with strangers at first, she may bark and then step back (especially when she is in the comfort zone of her own territory). But if visitors just leave her alone and allow her the time to sniff them, she eventually warms up. Once she knows you and trusts you, she is actually one of the most affectionate doggies ever. She insists on sleeping on the bed and snuggling in to you so this is a girl that is going to really need that in her new home. She must be a full member of your family because she is a very sensitive girl and needs to feel included. She is smart, is very much in tune with her primary guardian and picks up on your moods. She is not good with some small children and we think that perhaps she might be more comfortable in a home with no children. Adoption donation $275

Introducing GIGI - the precious little ten to thirteen year old Cocker mix girl. She is sweet, affectionate and friendly, slightly shy at first but once she trusts you, she will be your lap dog forever! We think she would be a dream come true companion for a senior citizen who just wants to snuggle and go on little walks every day. Is there someone out there looking to open up their hearts and their home to give Gigi a chance to live out her golden years knowing love and kindness? Adoption donation tbd

Introducing INDIANA - the two and a half to three year old English Cocker boy who is very active and needs an athletic owner who can keep him exercised daily (in addition to having access to a yard). He is very bright and eager to please and we think he would really flourish if his new owner were to take him to agility classes. If he is getting enough daily stimulation and activity, then his indoor personality is quite snuggly and affectionate. He needs to stay on a high quality, high protein food that has no corn or filler like wheat/whey/flour. He had been in a foster home that was not exercising him and feeding him a fatty food and he gained weight. Camp Cocker has worked hard to get Indiana back in shape again and we want to make sure we match him up with a home that is going to be prepared for an active puppy like this good boy. Adoption donation $325

Minnie has the beginnings of cataracts and will be needing surgery in a couple of months. We are trying to raise donations for her.Introducing MINNIE - the five year old cocker girl with the sweetest way about her. She is a very affectionate girl and loves to follow you around from room to room. She loves nothing more than to be held or to be on the couch next to you. She is housetrained to use a doggie door and has a rather quiet personality. She was rescued from the shelter with her puppy, Olivia, whom just got adopted. Minnie is dog friendly and child friendly as well. Minnie dreams of a home where someone can give her the good care and affection that her last home didn't have the time for. She has this quiet sad way about her that makes you just want to pull her into your lap and hold her and comfort her. She is a special girl and we know we are going to find her a special adopter! Check out Minnie and Olivia's short VIDEO. Adoption donation $275

Holly has an adoption pending! Yippee for you Holly!Introducing HOLLY - the fluffy cutie pie girl who is the most adorable puppy ever! Born in late December she just turned six months old and is dreaming of finding someone who can make a life long commitment to her. She is house trained to use a doggie door and very sweet and affectionate, she aims to please and just wants your approval and kind word. She loves to be held and snuggled and craves to be around people and other dogs. She is very playful and just lights up when she sees another dog to play with and she loves to play with the small dogs at Camp Cocker. This is a really special little girl and we want to find her a home that is just as special as she is. Adoption donation $500, this goes to support the vet debt we have from many of the older and medical needs dogs we have rescued.

Our Adoption process begins with an online adoption application - located in the right hand column - please do this first before contacting us. Camp Cocker does adoptions all over the state of California. We drive the dogs to you (a home safety check is an important part of the adoption process). We also have a rescue partner in Victoria, B.C., Angels Under Our Wings Cocker Rescue. If you become a pre-approved adopter (adoption application approved, home safety check done, vet references checked) then we will make arrangements to fly the dog up to Angels Under Our Wings. When we get new dogs in, we make them available first to adopters whom have already been pre-approved. We thank you in advance for being patient with our thorough adoption process. Check out this News Story to see how Cookie, the Camp Cocker doggie, became a Canadian!

We are one hundred percent supported by donations and on average, we spend between $500 - $750 on each dog we rescue (medical bills & boarding are our biggest expenses). About once or twice a month, we will get a dog that needs expensive surgery so we are always in need of donations. We are always operating in the red so please pass the word for us that we need donations. Also, what a great gift for someone who has everything . . . make a donation in their honor and we will send an acknowlegement card on your behalf.

Or if you prefer to donate by check, please make it out to Katrina Dog Rescue (c/o Cathy Stanley) 14320 Ventura Blvd., #236 Sherman Oaks, CA 91423
To see an example of how much a Medical Rehab dog can cost, please check out one of our most favorite rehab doggies, MURPHY and his sad little story at: MURPHY's WEBPAGE. He was with us for three months and we are so happy that he found his meant-to-be mommy and daddy to give him the love that he deserves!

HAPPY WOOF-A-DAYS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT! Max the Christmas puppy!

Camp Cocker is a Los Angeles based Cocker Spaniel Animal Rescue Organization that adopts out dogs all over the state of California. Most of our adopters live either in the Sacramento, San Jose or San Francisco area and we do monthly mobile adoptions where we drive the dogs to the adopters. We rescue Cocker Spaniels from high kill shelters in Los Angeles County and at times the surrounding counties of Kern County, Orange County, Riverside County, Kings County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County. We encourage anyone who is considering getting a Cocker Spaniel as a pet to please adopt, don't buy. There are so many gorgeous and very worthy Cockers in shelters and if we don't have a dog that you might enjoy, please check out the many other Cocker Spaniel rescue groups that are all over Southern California. Thank you so much for supporting animal rescue and for giving a rescue dog a second chance!
